I Have Gear Change Problems

When the car is cold (1.6 16v 2001 model, AZD 77 kw), it is change very nice, but when the car get hot, and i mean after 45 minutes of runing in the city, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, the gear stick it is like having glue inside, it is taking dificult thea gears and it is not going back in the midle possition. After 3-4 hours when the car its parked, it is again ok.

ps: sorry that i can not use the german language

Hi,

the solution for your problem is normally very simple.

please put some WD40 (oilspray)on the leverage. from my experience it works perfect.

will it doesn't work, then check the filling level from your transmission

with wd40 it not works, maybe it is better, but not 100% better.
i will go tomorow to check the filling level

Do you just have problems with your transmission or also with the engine? If the idle speed of the engine is to low or to high you may have problems to change the gears! Check the idle speed ! The ideal idle speed is 790 rpm when the engine is warm.

edit: could you say us your transmission code letter? sorry for my bad english =P

another good ideea, thank you, then i must go for vag com diagnosis! But why the gearstick looks like glued, just when the car its worm, and not when it is cold in the morning?

he's got an ERT transmission.

And you failed man

Idle Speed for the AZD is about ~620min^-1^

The problem is well known with AZDs. Exchange the gear oil to Castrol TAF-X. You may find the discussion on this board as well. Most people experiencing this problem were fine after exchanging the gear oil.

yes i have ERT gearbox and that model with a kind of perpendicular bars between gearbox and gearstick!

it is having just for 30 days new mobile fullsynth gl4 gearbox oil
