Golf 4 cluster

Hello guys..
I have problem with my Golf mk4 instrument Cluster.. I want to change it with new or used one, but I didn't find the same number in my country.I searched on Google not find the same one.. Any body can help please.. The number is 1J0 920 845A

My cluster have 3 Plugs..green and blue on the side and small one in the middle.. But 1J0 920 846A have only 2 on the side.

You're right.
If you install a 1Jx 920 846A cluster, just take the three wires out of the red plug and pin them over into the green plug.
pinout as follows:

red plug pin 12 ==> green plug pin 30
red plug pin 13 ==> green plug pin 31
red plug pin 15 ==> green plug pin 32

Can you tell me what I have to take from the old cluster to the other one.. Because I used to take my car to somebody here to change the cluster with 1j0 920 842A,but not successful..so he told me to bring the same number on old cluster..

I thought maybe he doesn't know what to do.. That's why I'm asking which memory"eproo" he have to take from old one to the new one..

What problem do you have? Are you sure, that a cluster swap will help? And why are you not trying to repair the original cluster?

Your original cluster has the large MFA / FIS display in the middle. This type of cluster is relatively rare in golf MK4. The chance to find one of these on the scrapyard is small.

If you don't use the stock radio / navigation in your car, you don't need this large display. This means you could also 'downgrade' to a cluster with a small MFA display like:
- 1J0920825A
- 1J5920825A
- 1J0920826A
- 1J5920826A

And if you are fine with a smaller rev scale, you could also use one of the following 1.4l 16V clusters:
- 1J0920825
- 1J0920826
- 1J5920826

And if you can live with a miles scale on your speedometer, you've even more options for a cluster swap.

You will need to transfer the immo data and maybe mileage across.
This needs to be done on a PC ideally, not just by moving over the eeprom (if it’s an exact match to the old down to the manufacturer and version number you might get away with it).

I’d try to find a cluster with the same generation immobiliser and fuel type, the rest can be corrected.

My problem is with the LCD display is bad and you can't see any thing throw it.. So L found other cluster with good LCD display..we took the LCD to my old cluster but not working and now no light at all..

That's why I decided to change it with an other one.. I found one with 1j0 920 842A,but unfortunately not working

Exchanging this old cluster with another old cluster will not resolve your problem.
The display unit in your cluster has to be replaced.

He’s apparently replaced the display only.
Was it soldered in place or connected with a conductive rubber part?

Would have been easier to swap the cluster completely and match immobiliser and transfer the vehicle mileage.

No it's NOT easier to swap the entire cluster. As mentioned: If you take another old cluster with original Display, you'll face the exact same problems, because ALL of these old VDO Displays are bad/weak when it's getting warm in your car.

1J0920842A as well as 1J0920845A are VDO clusters with displays soldered to the pcb.

buy a new display and find someone who is able to handle a soldering iron.
Removing an old display from another cluster is as dumb as swapping your cluster with another old cluster.
p.s.: 1J0920842A and 1J0920845A are not compatible.
